New and improved leaderboard
The leaderboard is powered by Game Jolt and I noticed that their native UI only supports displaying the top 50 on the leaderboard. Oops, I probably should’ve done that due diligence before publishing the game. Each and every one of you deserves a spot on the leaderboard, regardless of your time. So, I created my own UI for the leaderboard. It’s still powered by Game Jolt (behind the scenes) but I now have complete control over how the times are presented.
If you head on over to leaderboard.agameabouttypingthealphabet.com you will be able to see every time added to the leaderboard. It’s not perfect but it’s a start and I’m now able to solve other issues I’ve had with the leaderboard in-game, such as Windows not working (at all) and browser builds cannot display the leaderboard (only add to it). So that’s awesome!
I’ll most likely give it some love in the future and add things such as searching. I want to add a username profanity filter to alter the usernames that are not child friendly. Maybe, I’ll even switch the back-end to my own, but I need reasons to do it apart from “it’s fun!”.
What do you think about the new leaderboard UI?
